Ramanagara is situated at a distance of 50 KM from Bangalore city. Previously it was called ‘Closepet’. Later it was renamed as Ramanagara which was derived from Ramagiri hill near the town. Ramanagara is a newly carved out district from Bangalore Rural District. The total Geographical area of Ramanagara District is 3516 Sq. Km., of which 699.46 Sq. Km. is Forest Area, Cauvery, Arkavathi & Kanva are the three rivers flowing in the District. Commercial crops like Mulberry, coconut, cocoon production, Ragi, Toor Dal (Togari bele), Mango and groundnut are grown here. Ramanagara District is known for Mulberry, Silk Weaving, Milk and Toys. Ramanagara houses one of the biggest Silk Markets in India, giving it the name as “Silk City’’. The river Cauvery flows through Kanakapura Taluk and a tributary- Arkavathi river, joins at a place called Sangam. The people take a holy dip in this place and believe that it will purify their Karma. Kanva dam 15 km from Ramanagara is near kannamangala. The kanva river is named after the sage kanva, around this dam attracts the tourists with its beautiful environment. And also we see that this dam uses simmon technology.

Navaneetha Krishna Temple
Lord Navaneetha Krishna Temple in Channapatna Ramanagara, Ramanagara is one of the top Temples in Channapatna Ramanagara,This temple is in DoddaMallur , Channapatna and is believed to be more than 3000 years old. Interesting fact is that this temple & other houses in the village are standing on sand and no other solid foundation. Other specialties of this temple is there is no other temple in the world where lord vishnu is worshiped by the name Aprameya and the only temple where lord child Krishna is found in a crawling position with butter (navaneetha) in his hand. It is also believed that Lord Rama had performed yagnas here.

Sri Revanna Siddeshwara Betta believed to be the reincarnation of Jagadguru Sri Renukacharya the founder of "Veerashaiva Siddantha ". Sri Revanna Siddeshwara Betta height of the hill is around 3066ft above sea level. View from the top of the hill is beautiful.

Nadhi Narasimhaswamy Temple
The ancient shrine of Nadi Narasimha Swamy is located on the banks of River Kanva, The name Nadi Narasimha Swamy signifies the temple’s proximity to the river. It is known that apart from Gunja Narasimha Swamy Temple in Tirumakudalu Narasipura, this is the only other Narasimha Swamy shrine located on the banks of a river. The temple is beautifully flanked by agricultural fields on the other sides, creating a serene atmosphere. This ancient shrine is a protected monument, maintained by the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Karnataka.
Kengal Anjaneya Swamy Temple
This temple was built during the period of karnataka's 2nd chief minister, sri kengal Hanumanthaiah who is also the chief architect behind vidhana soudha, the legislature building in Bangalore. This temple is older than 60 years. Pilgrimages are the most visitors of this temple, every Saturday more traditional tourists will visit.

Narayana Giri Hills
