Punganoor Lake Park with boating
Punganoor Lake is a man-made lake located in the center of the Yelagiri Hills. It is one of the most famous and enjoyable places. Punganoor Lake has boating facilities. Rowing Boat and pedaling boats are an option here and for a minimal fee. Nature walks along the maintained pathways of the park are most embarked upon when in Yelagiri. Photography shoots or Video shoots can be carried out. Sit in the serene silence and enjoy the birds chirping and revel in the beauty and ambiance around the plush lake with your loved and dear ones. The Climate of the place is pleasant and refreshingly inviting throughout the year, So you can visit the Punganoor lake anytime of the year.
Nature Park
Nature Park, close to Punganoor Lake is spread over an area of 12 acres, the park is home to many species of plants that are specially selected to suit the rocky terrain of the region. There is an artificial cascade or the waterfall, where a bathing facility is available. In the evenings a musical fountain with multi-colored lighting dances to the popular numbers. There is also an aquarium that features varieties of fish and tortoises. Other attractions in the park include the seasonal garden, bamboo house, poly house etc.
Jalagamparai Waterfalls
The stunning Jalagamparai Waterfall is created by the River Attaaru running through the valleys of Yelagiri Hills. It cascades down from a height of 15 meters and is one of the popular Yelagiri tourist places. It is believed that bathing in this waterfall cures diseases because it caresses various herbal plants in the hills. Adjacent to the Jalagamparai falls, there is a Murugan temple located within a building constructed in the shape of a Lingam.
Swami Malai Hills
Swamimalai Hill starts from Mangalam village in Yelagiri. There is a Mariamman temple at the centre of the village which is a major landmark. The villagers visit the temple regularly and offer their prayers. People from the surrounding villages also visit the Shiva temple on the top to pay homage. The villagers’ unique customs, traditional tribal dwellings, summer festivals and their hospitality will definitely leave a lasting impression on everyone who visits the place.
