Coonoor is a hill station in Tamil Nadu easily reachable from Bengaluru by car. It’s known for its tea estates in the surrounding Nilgiri hills. The steam Nilgiri Mountain Railway travels between the towns of Mettupalayam and Ooty via Coonoor. Dolphin’s Nose is a vantage point with views of the cascading Catherine Falls. The primary attraction being Sim’s park, Spread over an area of 12 hectares, Sim's Park has a collection of over 1,000 plant species. The botanical garden is partly developed in the Japanese style and derived its name from J. D. Sim, the secretary of the Madras Club in 1874. Tiger Hills Cemetery

According to Hindu Mythology, Bakasura was a demon who lived here. He was eventually killed by the Pandavas, Bheem.
