Located in the foothills of the Chamundi Hills about 145.2 km towards the southwest of Bangalore and spread across an area of 155 sqkm lies the grand heritage city of Mysuru. It served as the capital city of the Kingdom of Mysore for nearly six centuries from 1399 until 1956. The Kingdom was ruled by the Wadiyar dynasty, and in the 18th century by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. The Wadiyars were patrons of art and culture. Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali also contributed significantly to the cultural and economic growth of the city and the state by planting mulberry trees, introducing silk in the region and fighting four wars against the British. The cultural ambience and achievements of Mysore earned it the alias “Cultural Capital of Karnataka”.

Ranganathaswamy Temple
The Ranganthaswamy temple in Srirangapatna, in the Mandya district of Karnataka state, India, is dedicated to the Hindu god Ranganatha. It is one of the five important pilgrimage sites of Sri Vaishnavism along the river Kaveri for devotees of Ranganatha. These five sacred sites are together known as Pancharanga Kshetrams in Southern India. Since Srirangapatna is the first temple starting from upstream, the deity is known as Adi Ranga. The town of Srirangapatna, which derives its name from the temple, is located on an island in the river Kaveri.

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, is a bird sanctuary in the Mandya District of the state of Karnataka in India. It is the largest bird sanctuary in the state, comprising 40 acres in area, and six islets on the banks of the Kaveri river. Ranganathittu is located 3 kilometers from the historic town of Srirangapattana and 16 kilometres north of Mysore.

Chamundi Hills
A perfect place for nature lovers, Chamundi hills is a sight worth a visit for sure. The Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple located on the top of Chamundi Hills about 13 km from the palace city of Mysuru in the state of Karnataka. The temple was named after Chamundeshwari or, the fierce form of Shakti, a tutelary deity held in reverence for centuries by the Maharaja of Mysuru. Chamundeshwari is called by the people of Karnataka as Naada Devi, which means state Goddess. It is believed that Goddess Durga slayed the demon king Mahishasura on the top of this hill which was ruled by him. The place was later known as Mahishooru.

Lalitha Mahal

Maharaja's Palace

It is the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty and the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore. The palace is in the centre of Mysore, and faces the Chamundi Hills eastward.Mysore Palace is now one of the most famous tourist attractions in India, after the Taj Mahal, with more than 6 million annual visitors.

St.Philomena's Cathedral
St. Philomena’s Cathedral is a Catholic church that is the cathedral of the Diocese of Mysore, India. The full name is the Cathedral of St. Joseph and St. Philomena. It is also known as St. Joseph's Cathedral. It was constructed in 1936 using a Neo Gothic style and its architecture was inspired by the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. This is one of the tallest churches in Asia.

Brindavan Gardens
Known as one of the most beautiful gardens in Karnataka, Brindavan Gardens is a perfect tourist destination to visit. It is known for the musical fountains in the evenings and truly provides a fascinating experience. The Brindavan Gardens is a garden located 12 kms from the city of Mysore. Sir Mirza Ismail, the Diwan of Mysore, a man with a penchant for gardens, founded the Brindavan Gardens and built the Cauvery River high-level canal to irrigate 120,000 acres in modern Mandya district.
