Udupi is considered as the final resting place of Lord Krishna. Sri Krishna Temple and matha was set up in the 13th century by Madhvacharya. Main Temples here are Sri Krishna temple, Chandreshwar temple and Anantheshwara temple. Once in every two years, a grand festival named ‘Paryaya Utsava’ is held in Udupi. During this time, temple management changes hands from one of the 8 mathas (Asta matt) to another. When in Udupi, do not miss to enjoy mouth watering Gadbad ice cream at Diana. Udupi is well connected by road and rail from all over Karnataka. Maple Beach, St Mary’s Island, Manipal End point, Kapu lighthouse are some of the other attractions near Udupi.

Udupi Krishna Temple
Sri Krishna Temple in Udupi is an important pilgrimage site in South India. It is said that the Krishna idol here is the most beautiful idol of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is depicted here as a small boy (Balakrishna). The idol is not seen directly, but through a 9 holed window called the Navagraha Kitiki. Udupi is referred to as ‘Mathura (birthplace of Lord Sri Krishna), Highlights of Udupi Sri Krishna Temple is “Kanakana Kindi” : A small window through which Lord Krishna is believed to have given darshan to his ardent devotee, saint Kanakadasa. The Golden Chariot of the temple can be seen by visitors.

Sri Anantheshwara Temple
The Anantheshwara temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, The deity here is Vishnu, enshrined in a Shivalingam.As per the legend, King Ramabhoja worshipped Parashurama on a silver pedestal at this place, and Parashurama manifested himself as Ananteshwara.

Malpe Beach
The beach is a virgin beach, located at a distance about 6 kms from Udupi. It is an important port and a fishing harbour in the state of Karnataka. St Mary's Island
St Mary’s Island also known as Coconut Island and Thonse Par, is a popular picnic spot, a short boat ride away from Malpe harbour and is a group of four small islands in the Arabian Sea, a beautiful spot for a day trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This is a place where you can enjoy the sea, the sun, and encounter nobody for hours.

Maravanthe Beach
The beach is a popular picnic spot and the waters are safe for swimming with huge but gentle tides which are really not dangerous. The pristine beauty and peaceful surroundings of its virgin beach make the Maravanthe beach a favourite picnic spot.

Belkal Theertha Falls
The Belkal Theertha Waterfall lies near Kollur and Madur and it is situated in the lush green forests of Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary.
